The role
As our CFO you will report directly to the CEO and will play a pivotal role in shaping our strategy and direction as one of the leaders of the business. You will be responsible for a whole range of activities from establishing and managing all finance-related business processes and controls to owning and developing the financial strategy, forecasts and budget. We have raised £4.7m to date and are starting to prepare for our next fundraise, to complete in 2023 - the CFO will be expected to play a leading role in this process.
We are still a relatively small business, so in the short term the role may require you to take on a variety of other responsibilities. We expect that by the end of 2022 you will be focused full-time on the more traditional duties of a CFO.
You will:
Provide strategic support to the CEO & board
Establish and direct the financial strategy, planning and decision-making processes which aligns with the business by partnering with senior management
Establish and manage a range of company processes and controls taking ownership of financial risk management and treasury
Manage our next fundraising process to take place in 2023
Create a capital and liquidity risk management lens to support the effective execution of the strategic initiatives of the Company
Ensure the budgeting & forecasting process is run smoothly with regular re-forecasts
Ensure monthly management accounts are reported in an accurate and timely manner
Co-ordinate the preparation of monthly Board reporting packs covering financial and operational performance
Direct the company’s KPI reporting and data analysis and insight activities
Ensure the business is fully compliant with all financial regulatory reporting, tax requirements and control requirements
Ensure audited year-end financial statements are produced in a timely fashion
Identify opportunities for efficiency and operational improvements
Identify the finance team requirements and lead the recruitment process
You are:

You have:
A recognised financial or management accounting qualification.
5-10 years management experience.
Proven experience of fundraising for an early-stage company.
Experience of setting-up and maintaining financial processes and controls within a business.
A solid understanding of relevant technical and regulatory financial requirements.
Ability to maintain the highest standards of compliance and confidentiality.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Great attention to detail.
