The role

The Engineering Intern will provide support to the engineering team to design, build and test Sunswap’s zero emission technology. You will undertake activities throughout the product development cycle. This is a great opportunity to be part of building an early-stage business, gain valuable work experience and contribute to the development of the Sunswap product range.

You will:

  • Develop knowledge and skills in one or more of the following functional areas: systems and mechanical engineering, project management, testing, build and assembly, engineering software and processes.

  • Assist in the generation of new designs and concepts supporting Sunswap’s innovation.

  • Create engineering documentation including wiring diagrams, system schematics, test plans, component specifications and reports.

  • Specify and source components, considering both performance and cost.

  • Produce CAD models, detail drawings, conduct analysis, tests and write reports.

  • Optimise the design of components and systems using functional and analytical tools, including hand calculations and FEA where appropriate.

  • Play a part in the physical assembly and test of the prototype products.

  • An understanding of system-level engineering and the interaction between digital, electrical and mechanical systems.

  • A high-level knowledge of thermodynamics, electronics and battery technology.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Experience contributing to group or personal projects.
