R&D Technician

The role

The R&D Technician will work closely with the engineering team and undertake activities from the initial system build through to completion, including modifications such as fabricated brackets, modifying refrigerant pipework, electrical wiring and maintenance. You will be onsite daily and be hands-on with the TRU build program. This is a great opportunity to be part of building an early-stage business. You will play a key role in the development of the Sunswap product range.

You will:

  • Support the technical team to achieve engineering, project and company targets.

  • Provide engineering feedback during build and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Follow detailed working instructions within the build manual, testing the processes and looking for areas of process optimisation.

  • Support the R&D Manager in documenting the workshop’s stock.

  • Use measuring equipment including; torque wrenches, vernier callipers and micrometers.

  • Adhere to company and workshop policies regarding health, safety and welfare and maintain a clean and hygienic working environment.

  • Support the deployment of Sunswap TRUs in the field.

You have:

  • Excellent demonstrable ‘hands on’ skills in an R&D environment.

  • HNC / HND or equivalent working experience.

  • Experience in automotive / transport / motorsport / electrical systems, complying with industry standards, safety processes and certification

  • The ability to interpret engineering information in multiple formats

  • F-gas certification or prior experience working with refrigeration systems.

  • A proactive approach to issue resolution and the ability to problem solve and propose robust engineering solutions.

  • An understanding of electrical build & assembly processes and experience in low voltage wiring.

  • A high-level understanding of electronics and battery technology - safety, cooling, mechanical and control
