Sunswap Debuts Endurance at IAA Transportation 2024

Sunswap is thrilled to announce our participation in the upcoming IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, Germany. This marks a significant milestone as we introduce our zero-emission transport refrigeration unit to the European market for the first time.
Sunswap will be in the Startup Zone in Hall 12 (Stand SA09). You can also visit the TIP Group trailer just north of Hall 12 and see the fully electric Endurance unit.
European Launch of Endurance
At IAA, logistics professionals from across Europe will have their first opportunity to see Endurance up close. Our battery and solar-powered transport refrigeration unit represents a leap forward in sustainable cold chain technology, offering a viable alternative to traditional diesel-powered systems.
Expanding Across Europe with Partners - TIP Group
Our presence at IAA follows our recent partnership announcement with TIP Group, a leading equipment and services leasing provider operating across 18 European countries. This collaboration underscores the growing demand for sustainable refrigeration solutions in the European market and positions Sunswap to cater to diverse fleets and operations across the continent.
Rogier Laan, Vice President Sales and Marketing at TIP, said “Sunswap’s refrigeration system is unique and this partnership allows us to offer our customers another sustainable solution for their refrigerated trailer fleet management needs. We are excited to be at the forefront of the industry in implementing clean technology to reduce our customer’s carbon footprint.”
Fuelling Growth: Recent Series B Funding
To support our European expansion, we've recently secured £17.3 million in Series B funding. This investment will drive our growth, enhance our technology, and ensure we can meet the increasing demand for sustainable transport refrigeration solutions across Europe.
The funding round led by investment company, BGF will accelerate the rollout of its zero-emission transport refrigeration technology across the UK and Europe. The round also saw investment from Shell Ventures, Dutch venture capital fund, Move Energy, and existing backers Barclays and Clean Growth Fund.
The Urgent Need for Sustainability in Transport Refrigeration
In the UK alone, there are approximately 55,000 diesel-powered refrigerated trailers. This presents significant challenges:
- Environmental Impact: These units contribute substantially to CO2 emissions, exacerbating climate change and air pollution in urban areas.
- Rising Costs: With fuel prices on the rise and increasing regulations on diesel use, operating costs for traditional units are climbing.
- Sustainability Targets: Many businesses risk missing their sustainability goals and losing eco-conscious customers if they don't transition to greener alternatives.
Endurance offers a compelling solution to these challenges:
- Zero Direct Emissions: Our system eliminates tailpipe emissions, significantly reducing the environmental impact of refrigerated transport.
- Cost Savings: With lower operational costs and reduced maintenance needs, Endurance offers substantial savings over its lifetime.
- Future-Proof Technology: As regulations tighten and sustainability becomes increasingly crucial, Endurance ensures businesses stay ahead of the curve.
- Reliable Performance: Engineered to match or exceed the performance of diesel units, Endurance doesn't compromise on reliability or cooling capacity.
- Solar Integration: Our unique solar panel integration extends range and reduces reliance on grid charging, further lowering operational costs.
