Job overview
We are seeking an Assembly Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for building the world’s first purpose built battery and solar powered transport refrigeration unit (TRU). This role involves working closely with the operations and engineering teams to ensure precise assembly according to detailed specifications and assembly instructions. You will be also be responsible for maintaining a high standard of quality, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Key responsibilities
- Building production Transport Refrigeration Units.
- Supporting with kitting parts for development and production builds.
- Maintaining component traceability and ensuring the highest quality standards with minimal scrap.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any assembly issues or discrepancies to maintain production schedules.
- Closely follow assembly instructions and maintain accurate documentation of assembly processes, including recording any deviations or modifications made during assembly.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and team members.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance assembly processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to ensure efficient workflow and minimise hazards.
Qualifications & experience
- Over 1 years’ experience in one of the following is essential:
- Automotive sector
- Prototype Build
- Motorsport
- Aerospace
- Commercial Vehicles
- Excellent demonstrable ‘hands on’ skills in both R&D and production environment with a high degree of technical and diagnostic experience.
- Willingness to learn and work in part of multiple aspects of the Sunswap TRU Assembly process
- The ability to interpret engineering information in multiple formats with a focus on assembly instructions, 2D drawings and 3D CAD assemblies.
- Good awareness of Health and Safety, hazard perception and the correct use of PPE in the workplace
Nice to have
- Electrical harnessing experience – fitting/reworking harnesses, LV and HV components
- Experience working in an assembly environment with elements of Automatic Assembly
- Forklift licence
